Our Story: A Kindergarten Built on Community, Legacy, and Heart (1948-present)
For over 75 years, our kindergarten has been a place where children, families, and the community come together to foster a love of le
arning. It is more than just a kindergarten—it is a home away from home, where children feel safe, nurtured, and free to explore the world around them.
Generations of families have walked through our doors, creating a deep sense of belonging and shared experiences. Many of our alumni return years later, this time as parents, eager to give their own children the same warm and enriching start they once had.
Humble Beginnings: A Community Vision (1948-1950s)
Our journey began in November 1948, when a group of local parents and residents came together with a vision—to create a safe and nurturing environment where their children could learn, grow, and thrive.
Without a dedicated building, the kindergarten was initially housed at St. Faith’s Church Hall, supported entirely by community fundraising, parent volunteers, and local businesses. From those early days, the kindergarten was built on commitment, resilience, and the shared belief that early childhood education was vital.

A Period of Growth and Connection (1960s-1980s)
As the demand for early education grew, so did the kindergarten. The 1960s and 1970s saw exciting changes, from new facilities and expanded programs to a stronger emphasis on play-based learning and outdoor exploration.
Parents remained at the heart of the kindergarten’s success, forming lifelong friendships through working bees, fundraising events, and volunteering in classrooms. Many families stayed connected long after their children moved on, helping to shape the kindergarten for future generations.
By the 1980s, despite fluctuating government funding, the kindergarten remained a trusted place where children developed confidence, creativity, and friendships that lasted a lifetime. Through a strong partnership between educators and families, our kindergarten became more than just a school—it became a community.
A Thriving Kindergarten for Generations (1990s-Present)
Through the 1990s and early 2000s, the kindergarten continued to evolve, adapting to the needs of modern families while holding onto the core values that had defined it for decades.
Today, our kindergarten stands as a symbol of continuity and legacy, a place where:
- Siblings follow in each other’s footsteps
- Parents reconnect with friends they met here as children
- Grandparents proudly watch as another generation joins the kinder community
Families who have been part of the kindergarten’s journey often describe it as a special place where lasting connections are formed. The bonds between children, educators, and families create a support network that extends well beyond the kindergarten years.
Our kindergarten remains a vibrant and inclusive space, welcoming children from diverse cultural backgrounds and reinforcing values of respect, kindness, and curiosity.
